Last week Bridget represented Hastings Secondary College at the Youth Parliament in Sydney. She was flown to Sydney and became involved straight away in the excitement of the occasion.
There were 97 students present from all over the state. On the first day they were taught how to write bills and divided into topic groups. Bridget was in the Education Group. Bridget and the other regional students stayed overnight at the Baden Powell Scout Centre.
The next day they finished writing their speeches ready for a parliamentary debate. Bridget chose to focus on student stress. She enjoyed the debating process and the response she received from her fellow students.
She really enjoyed the overall experience, particularly meeting new friends and meeting challenges. Bridget was an outstanding college representative.
